RPM monster
how many rpm can a stock lower end and pistons take? ive got a 2year old 350 GM crate motor that is a stock replacement type with 4 bolt mains, 1 peice rear main seal non-roller engine.
my bro's 84 L69 305 has seen 7000 rpm many times it has sustained at least 6500. To be safe no more than 6000 sustained maybe 6500 momentarily. If you not making big power, or running a lot of camshaft lift its not quite as bad. I keep my 383 under 6000. Long stroke, plenty of power and high lift hyd roller are more likely to fail than 200 horse, shorter stroke and low lift

I take mine up to 6400 all the time. Its not the strongest bottom end in the world but they suit it just fine. I'd worry more about the valve float problem you'll be having at that high of an engine speed

depends on if a 305 or 350.....in a 305 the max rpm for a cast stock crank is 6034 rpm.....exceeding that and your asking for touble..i spun a bearing and broke a rod because of overrevving
