89 Trans Am GTA Question
89 Trans Am GTA Question
I'm looking for a T/A and found a 89 GTA 350 TPI this guy wants to sell for $1500, Just looking for opions. The car is painted teal green but the orignal color was black accoring to the RPO codes, The body is in pretty good shape it would need a LH fender and it has a dent in the RH qtr panel of course the spoiler is cracked so it would need a new one, The guy says it runs but the tranny will not go into OD, and sometimes it will not go into Rev, says it could be a cable as the cable to attached to the TB is very loose. The interior looks pretty good there are not rips or tears in any of the seats, the dash is not cracked the headliner kind of sags and the car has T-Tops. It has the black mesh rims with the WS6 center caps and the all look great no dents or curb accidents. It has rear disc brakes, posi rear, with 3.27 gears. Based on this does $1500 sound about right? Just wondering, Thanks, Jason
Jas87,
I can't tell you what to do with your money, but if I came across a car like that (good interior, minor body damage, maybe a trans replacecment) that didn't have eleventy-jillion miles on it and ran well otherwise, I'd drop the $1,500 on it. Of course, that would be AFTER trying to talk the owner down to $1,200-1,300 or so. The KBB value would have to be taken into consideration, as well as the repaint, body condition, and mechanical condition. The transmission would be a big lever for me.
Even one baked in the Florida sun couldn't be all that bad.

Vader, I tried talking him down he started at $2000 and I offered $1300 a over week ago never heard back so I stoped back by his house and he said that he would take $1500, The car shows 160,000 miles and the guy claims it was rebuilt at about 120,000 miles by previous owned but no recipts to prove it. I found the car just sitting in his backyard and stopped in to see what was wrong with it and would he sell it. I'm mainly looking for one to rebuild anyway I think $1500 is a good price but the tranny problem I'm not sure about. I'm not a tranny guy but I work at a GM dealer and could have our tranny man fix it. Now all I have to do is convince my wife
