restoring project need info
well, tommorrow im so happy my camaro will be running again....
i have an 83 camaro Z28 , it has the lg4 engine....
problems, no rear window defroster doesnt work not even the light....
cruise controll doesnt work no response,
power locks, just a click and nothing moves, ac out of free on... front seats have seat covers, all seats need to be redone. Carpeting not bad.. door panels alittle roughed up... all weather stripping needs replacment, new front bumper assembly, right fender dammage slight... front left fender needs replacing, or dents pounded out, head light switch needs replacement, new instrument cluster to suport the 160mph gauge... underbody looks ugly....
so guys i want a full restoration project the motor is junk and needs replacing runs but carb needs replaced all smog equipment, exhaust leak, motor just in terrible health..will run oh yah and someone jacked one of my 90 iroc z rims.. So all in all i have a perfect begginner restoration car..
my idea is to redo the wiring in my car i have all the time in the world and lotz of money, i plan on having the engine professionally pulled and towed to my house to be ripped apart take advantage of the engine out, As for part of restoring it, what should i do to get that fresh out of the factory steering, driving. like what extent should i replace in steering and suspension, like shocks struts, control arm, control arm bushings, i dunno, how hard is it to rewire with out th engine in? i will take lotz of pictures, and post for you guys

New bushings everywhere. New idler arm (they wear SO fast on our cars). And new upper strut bearings. That should tighten up the steering.
As for the rewiring, if the harness hasn't been hacked up, it should all be there already. You more likely have device problems, like switches and relays. The defogger uses a relay and time delay. The cruise has its own electronics package, but requires a speedo cable connection and vacuum supply, along with the control stem and brake pedal switch. The door locks are likely just the solenoids in the doors and/or liknages being dirty/gummed/loose.
The air conditioning repair is a totally separate project, and could include lots of possible problems.
You already know what to do about the cosmetics and appearance. Remember that fourth-gen seats will bolt right in (but might be hard to match upholstery).
