Oil pressure sender/switch thingy

I'm having trouble getting my new L98 to fire up. Was wondering if the oil pressure switch being bad would be the cause. I read somewhere that if it doesn't see oil pressure that it will shut down the engine. If it's gone bad for some reason would it do the same thing and not let me start the car? Thx.

If your fuel pump relay and ECM are working, your engine will run without the oil pressure switch. It isn't a safety device, just a redundant power source for the fuel pump.
