BAD gas oder inside car, Cant find leak anywhere!

like 4 months ago i started to smell gas inside the car everyonce in a while when i was driving my88GTA, it was an on and off thing then which didnt happen often, now its become really bad and the gas smell is very strong every time i drive the car,

ive had the car on the lift and have checked everywhere but cannot find a leak, im thinking there could be a leak right around the top by the fuel pump. has anyone else ever this sort of thing happen with a thirdgen?

sometimes i can smell gas coming from behind the driver side rear wheel right after i get out of the car. but cant see any leaks

Check the rubber the lines above the rear end. also check the charcoal canister. the lines may be loose. check the FPR. the diaphram may be leaking. youmay also have a bad O ring on one of the injectors or lines. I have a fuel odor as well and cant track it down. Im hoping it will go away when i switch over to the HSR and new stainless fuel lines.

Inside the car with the windows up and rolling down the road? If at a stop with the windows down, it could be your gas cap.

i smell it every time i drive the car, it doesnt matter if the windows are up or down, ive checked everywhere and cannot locate any leaks, although the car has been running lean lately with the plugs somewhat white with the fuel pressure at 60psi i dunno if that could have anything to do with it

im putting the stealthram and 24lb svos on next weekso maybe something from the stock setup is leaking slightly but i doubt it

when you go to fill up your gas, do your hear a lot of hissing from the cap as you release the pressure? If not, odds are your cap is loose/not sealing well and more often thean not will cause a smell window up or down and not produce a noticable leak anywhere.

ill check that out, that could be it,tommorow when i get gas ill see what happens

just had a thought...is it possible someone could have changed the fuel pump at one time and instead of dropping the rear, cut a hole behind the back seats directly above the fuel pump to change it and maybe not have sealed it up correctly??
