OIly Valves???

Tore down my TPI 350 out of my Camaro and found this:

#1 sparkplug was extremely oil fouled, as were the combustion side of the valves, yet the piston seemed scoured clean, and rest of the chamber was pretty clean too. Leakdown test indicated 6-8% loss. This engine before teardown would miss, but no smoke till warm, then would lay clouds. Also , the exhaust valves were light gray, yet the chambers were sooty. What should I look for? I ordered new moly rings and will give it another hone just for insurance, but I want to make sure I kill the root of the problem

what color was the smoke? A clean piston and combustion chamber are signs of a head gasket leaking coolant into the chamber, cracked head. Typically the smoke would be white like steam if this is the case. If the smoke is blue then you could be burning oil cause by oil being blown by the rings or valve seals leaking generally valve seals will leak mostly on engine start up. I am thinking you might have a blow-bi problem with that cylinder. How many miles are on the engine? Have you done any work to it recently. What did a compression test show relative to the other cylinders?
