Non third gen.But tech

Alright guys I have a 92 cavalier. And since it is so nice outside I decided what a good day to do a little tuneup. So I changed the oil.And Now I decided to do the fuel filter. So I went and got one.Looks like the stock one still is on it.(It has almost 200,000 I bet it is clogged!)

Well I crawled under there and found it.Everytime I take the fuel line loose it squirts out like mad!It almost acts like the pump is still pumping!I can't figure it out.My first to vehicles where a 91 gmc sonoma and a 1990 3/4 ton 4wd drive truck.Neither of them did this.I was wondering If there is something I need to do.

Any help would be great.

the computer might be programmed to keep the system primed.....

if so, it should have residual pressure in the lines.....and it *is* possible that the computer is running the pump when you d/c the line, trying to maintain pressure.....

Did you undo the gas cap to let the pressure out?
Even so it's still going to pour out. Just do it really quick

the gas cap won't release fuel pressure. you can just loosen it until it stops spraying or just remove the fuel pump fuse and fire up the car. when it dies, then take the line's off.

Well I got it changed. After I figured out the quick disconnect and disconnect the side that doesn't thread into the fuel line.I guess there was just a whole bunch of fuel in the lines.I know my arm was burning like mad after getting it changed. After I washed up I decided to see how dirty the old one was.It really wasn't to bad.Not nearly as bad as the one that came off my 3/4 ton.You couldn't even blow through it.I didn't really notice any difference power wise.Except it seems to cruise easier at 70.

Thanks for the help.
