vacuum help

Today iam trying to get my 84 berlinetta back on the road after my father in law took to his friends to work (actually its not mine yet its my wifes) on it the screwed up the changed the carb.He said the choke was not working.I fixed the problem it was a leaking base gasket, but he insisted on changing the carb it is a CCC his cash so i said go for it.He forgot to take the ilc off the left side of the carb and turned it in for a core so i have to buy another

Anyway i dont have enough time to sit and type all the things his "mechanic" friends have doneto this poor car I have been tracing out vac lines that he and his cronies thouhgt that the car did not need and replacing them i.e the map sens baro sens so i just decided to change out all the old lines anyway. i was testing and changing lines to day when i found one that would not hold press. that ran into the fire wall. so i pulled the trim panels and found it is a purple line that runs under the dash can any body tell me what this is and does any body now where the ECM is i think it is fried. Thanks:hail: :hail:

The purple line carries vacuum to the selector switch that routes it to the diaphragms that control whether the air comes out the dash, floor, or defrost vents.

Sounds to me like you have 2 possible options. Get the right carb, or de-computerize it. There's really no middle ground. Problem is, in your state, it might not pass emissions inspection with a non-computer carb on it.

What did they put on it?

theyput another quadrajet CCC but it does not have the ILC on it.and now i am gettin a fault light the red one with the circle and the line thru it like when ever you turn the key and dont start it it comeson after the cars warms up of goes into closed loop i think i fixed that by reconnecting the baro sensor vac line but havent tried to start and run cuz its up on ramps and i dont want to run it long enough while its up there. i dont knowif it will starve for oil while on such and incline. there is still the connector there where the ILc was but i cannot get any reading from it even when i turn on the A/c

well i took the car off the ramps today and it running ok not great but ok. that light keeps coming on : the carb a little but only when i give it partial throttle . i was mistaken its not the llc thats only on non ecm vehichles it the one for ecm vehicles i cannot rember the name. and emissions are not a problem where i live. thanks for the heads up on the vac line vent selector. i don't notice any vac leaks now so i guess that the lines under the dash are elec controlled and i assume (i hate that word) .does any body know what that red light means it the same light as when you turn on the key but don't start the car.
