Auto tensioner

I have been going nuts over auto tensioner unit, it rattles like hell when ac is on, and not much when it is off. Does anybody else have this or know of why it is doing this?
I bought another from auto store and same problem, I'm having it taken off tomorrow and ordering an OEM factory replacement to put in this thursday hopefully if its in stock. But is it something else causing it, only notice the tensioner rattling, belt is new and will see what happens.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated, thanks! Andy

That's odd. You're sure its the tensioner and not the compressor?

I vote for checking if its not the a/c compressor cycling on and off quickly or the bolts broke off in the head of the passenger side accesory bracket.
