valve lash
I know this subject has been addresed many times and I have done a search and read alot of the posts. I plan on adjusting them with the engine running. What I want to know is what is the worst that can happen by not having them adjusted right to start the motor the first time. For example ; if I have any to tight could it bend or break a pushrod?, if I have any way to loose could the pushrod jump out of the lifter? Currently I have them so that there is no play between the rocker and the lifter when the lifter is down(valves closed)they can be spun between your fingers. I was able to do this with multiple rockers without turning the engine over, did I do this right? Then the ones with the lifter up where I could see it, I turned the engine over by hand until the lifter went down and adjusted those. This is the first time that I have been this far into the engine and I just want to make sure I dont screw anything up. Just let me know if I am on the right track and any assistance is greatly appreciated ! They are new pushrods, new springs, new 1.5 roller tip rockers and new cam. (hydraulic roller)
too tight could bend push rod or destroy lifters. too loose and it could fall out of the lifter. set it cold like has been posted in a 1000 other threads and then hot if you feel the need.
