I pulled one of my rockers off the 83 the other day and I noticed gouges on the bottom of the rocker. I looked to see where it is coming from and it seems that all of the rockers are resting on the screw-in studs. Is this common and if not how can I fix this?

HEre is what I got

AFR 195's with scrwe-in studs
Summit brand 1.5 full roller rockers

thanks

Shawn

the rocker should be "suspended" on the stud, supported by the push rod and valve and pivitot on the ball or trunion. by any chance when you installed the screw in studs did you mill .4 off the head? if not that may be the answer to your problems.

Sounds like your push rods are too short.

Well I have aftermarket retrofit roller lifters and I ordered pushrods that said for use with retrofit hydraulic lifters.

I thought that the rocker should be suspended. I don'tunderstand why the pushrods they reccomend for the lifters would be too short. How would I go about figuring out what I should get.

the heads came with the studs already installed.
