Bought a truck, cheapest place to get a crate engine and other questions?
I just bought a 97 C/K 1500 this weekend with a seized engine. The guy who had it didn't realize he had a head gasket leak and either cooked it or had all the bearings corrode to nothing.
Where is the cheapest place to get a GM crate engine? So far the best I have found is Pace Parts. Also is there another engine that I can use besides the factory direct replacement that will still pass emissions and not require all kinds of custom PROM tuning?
Also the truck has a leak from the pinion seal on the front differential. Can I just disconnect the driveshaft and pull the seal from the outside to replace it or does the whole diff have to be disassembled?
Other than some minor dents and scratches the body is in great shape and it has a 6 in lift and 35x12.5 tires. I can't wait to get this thing on the road.
