oil pressure and ticking
ok lets address the first problem first, my oil pressure usually reads high, around 60-80 today i was sittin at a stop light and it was on the red part for the "hazard zone" i acclerate and it goes to maybe 20, why is it so low now? temp guage never worked and fixed that yesterday, is that someway connected making the oil pressure guage not read right? ok net problem, i used to hear a ticking when acclerating around 3000 rpms, now i heard it acclrating around 2000 is it a valve tick? whats wrong with it? help shed some light on my problems
thanks in advance
mike
BTW: my car is a 89 camaro rs with a 2.8 v6 and a 700 r4 trans

Sounds like your sending unit has gone. Check into getting another one. It couldn't hurt and besides they aren't too expensive. The ticking could be alot of things but it sounds to me like lifter tick. They will do that especially if there is a lack of oil pressure or the plungers have gone bad on a few. How many miles on the motor? Can you tell if there are any exhaust leaks?

. Your kidding right?? A leaking head gasket is a big deal man!! Do you have coolant in your oil and vice versa?! How do you know its a head gasket? Did you do a compression check? This just keeps getting better. Thread Starter

thats what i figure it is...seems to leak antifreeze out the exhaust in the winter, and today it seemed to be oil instead...also, there might be oil in my coolent, not sure though, its kinda brown, looks more rusty than oil
