compression

i'm goin to be starting my engine build up as soon as i get my crate zz short block in the mail but my question is how would i figure out my compression ratio

Engine: Al LT1 headed LG4 305
Transmission: TH350
Axle/Gears: 3.73 posi with spacer
Put the piston at TDC, then use a buret and tranny fluid to measure teh volume required to fill up to the deck height. Then repeat this process on the heads with the valves in. You can now add up how much fluid it took and the volume of the head gasket. You can then plug this into a compression ratio calculator and get your ratio.
