Replaced O2, still getting lean code...PLEASE HELP!!!!

Still getting code 44 after swapping the O2 sensor.

Car runs only slightly less rough after new O2. Car is running obviously very lean. I've replaced all sensors now exept for the MAP, and ive replaced the fuel filter.

What does this sound like? Possibly the MAP sensor? How could I test it? Maybe the fuel pump relay? How would I test THAT!?

Or maybe the fuel pump itself? I don't know. I do know that SOMETIMES the car actually runs very very well and does not hesitate or cough or anything, so it's an intermittant problem.

Code 44 I understand could also mean some sort of a vacuum leak either in the TBI unit itself or the intake gasket somewhere...How would I check that?

I'm 2 weeks away from replacing my clutch and fixing my tranny...all I want it a nice running car to enjoy, hell even if it is an LO3.

Help!

Question: is the MAF vacuum controlled? I did a search and now I'm thinking its the MAF since it runs really ****ty when cold but get better after 160 degrees or so...

Your engine is TBI, right? Assume so since it's an RS car?

If so, no MAF.

You do have a MAP sensor though.

That said, you need to figure out why you're lean, could be many things.

Do a search on "code 44", here and in the TBI boards.

If you do have MAF (if you have TPI) then you don't have a MAP sensor. A search for code 44 on the TPI board will yeild lots of good info.
