My broken Lt1

Ok guys, hope you can help me out. I have a '93 Firebird Formula Lt1. It will start after its been sitting for a while, and it idles fine. But everytime I try to drive it, after around .5 miles it starts loping and the rpm start jumping all over the place. Then it dies... I have to let it sit for a few hours before it will start again. Also when I'm driving it feels like there's a huge powerloss. I thought it might be the ICM so I went ahead and replaced it, but no luck. Any ideas?

If it has over 80,000 miles, it might be time to repair/replace the OptiSpark distributor. It's no fun chore, but if you determine that there is an ignition problem, it's the likely cause.

You should also check the fuel pressure. A clogged filter or failing pump can create similar symptoms.

Correct on the contamination. A replacement rotor and front cover ("cap", sort of) is about $136.00. The optical array and stainless interruptor discs can usually be cleaned up and reused successfully.

Not to say your not welcome here, because you are, but the best board for 4th gen info is CamaroZ28.com

You'll find more people there with more 4th gen experience. Once again not to say you won't experience here but that site is more devoted to 4th gens since this is "thirdgen".org. Good luck with the problem.
