Bad Gas? Or What?

My Car hasn't been started since late november. I pretty much ran the gas out of it but there still was a little bit left. About two days ago i put about 6 gallons in there of new gas and it ran pretty good for a while. Today i fired it up and it ran like CRAP. Real loppy idal(More than Normal). Car wanting to die when i wouldnt constatly rev it up. And smoking an smelling like crazy. My friends said its prolly just bad gas but how come it ran fine when i first started it a couple days ago? Do the symtoms sound like bad gas or somthing else? Anything would be helpful. Thanks a lot guys..

I'm no expert on this subject, but maybe I can help. When you put the 6 gallons in, did you drive the car to the station? Or did you put it in from a can? If you drove the car to the station, how did it run? If it ran normal..then I wouldn't say it's bad gas. If you used a can, then when you poured it in, maybe it mixed all together (bad gas new gas). And the bad gas settled to the bottom. Like I said I'm no expert.

You may have moisture in the fuel. You may also have contaminants or debris in the tank being pumped to the filter, etc. Your post and signature don't say, but I'm guessing that you're running a carburetor, correct? That may have problems from sitting dry for six months.

So, what fuel system are you using anyway?
