getting started
I'm new to the site and was in search of a place to find information about my 1983 T/A and to meet some new people on here. I have recently bought the vehicle and it has a bone stock crossfire fuelinjected 305 V8. Basically what i was looking for was some information on where to start on getting more power under the hood. I bought a richmond 4:10 ring and pinion gear for the rear end and I'm currently looking for a posi rear end to put it in for the car. I have also bought a B&M street/strip shift kit for the transmission. I want to get more power out of the car without having to buy a new crate motor or put nitrous in the car. I have a little knowledge of the mechanics of a car but I am always looking to learn more. So my question is how can I go about getting more power in the car yet keeping it street legal and keeping my expenses under 5k. Any information from all of you professionals out there would be most appreciated. Thanks for your time.
pull the engine and drop in a 350 , that 305 CFI will not get you anywhere
It can be made fast but it will cost more than a new crate motor from GM , lol , so why bother
I believe the 350HO from GM is ~$2300 , that's 350hp engine right there , add a tranny for ~$1000 , finish up that rear end for another grand and you're running 13s with total cost under 5grand.
