Rear brakes aren't wearing evenly...

This is on the '89 IROC in the sig.

I have new brake pads all the way around on my car, and new rotors on the back (I have 4-wheel-disc). Before I ever took my car out to drive it, it spent some time in the rain, effectively rusting up the rotors.

Generally, that's no big deal because the rust comes off after braking for the first couple of times, right? Well, I've driven the car around for a total of a couple of hours since then, and I'm noticing that only the outer-half of the contact area of the rotors seem to be getting wear [see attached picture showing both the right and left rear wheels]. Shouldn't the rust be gone on all areas where the pad should be contacting?

Obviously, the rust itself is not what's bothering me--I'm just wondering why it isn't getting worn off like it should, and if that reason would cause me to have bad braking power...

Thanks

man..... mine are the same way. they wear the exact same way. if you were to inspect the inner side of the rotor you would notice that full contact is being made. mine now make full contact since i changed them. it's been a while. just give them time to "break in" (pun intended) and you will be fine. this is on my 94' Formy.

Probably should have posted this in the brakes forum.

Anyway, read this thread and you'll see a pic I posted of a closeup of a PBR caliper. You can't miss it...it's a huge shot. In the shot you will see me pointing out the E-brake adjusting screw on the caliper itself. You may need to adjust it to get the pads to ride parallel to the rotor. Yours seem to be making contact with the rotor, and this is probably your problem. This is covered in the caliper rebuild instructions in the rebuild kit. I can send you a copy if you need one.
