heater core

I read the article here so don't yell at me.

Anyway, i took the box off and I got the old core out (ha I bent that thing to hell) and I got it out with the plastic casing it was in cause I don't see how to remove the bolts that hold the metal clamps on while its still in. So is there anything i'm missing cause I just can't get it to slide back. It seems i can't turn it to get the clearance, i've messed with it for 2 hours checking it through the firewall and i've got the hoses through but not all the way. Yes I do have the dash top part loosened as well, just maybe there is something someone knows that will help me, it feels like its being caught on something but I don't know, i've looked and I will fiddle with it again but before I go i thought maybe this might save me some hassel.
