Good EXTERNAL fuel pump for my 1990 Corvette engine?

Hi guys,

Any suggestions as to a good fuel pump for my 1990 L-98 Vette motor? It is going into a 1972 Blazer so I would like an external pump? Any part numbers? Any place I should be looking to get a good deal? Thanks!

Sorry, it's for a stock TPI unit so I meant electric fuel pump. I didn't think they made mechanical pumps that would pump out 45 psi continuously, do they? Any way, I am looking for an electric pump to be mounted outside that tank along my frame rail. An internal pump is not an option. Thanks again.

I would stay far away from external in-line high pressure EFI fuel pumps if you can help it. They tend (not always) to run hot and loud burning out in short time. Not to mention they cost twice what a good, high quality in-tank pump costs.

I would recommend a Walbro in-tank EFI fuel pump. They are durable, support high HP, very quite and much cheaper.

Yeah, pitch the TPI. Just because you get great low end torque (a ***-send for a truck), great gas milage, good reliability, great cold starts and a great looking system is no reason not to pitch it and replace it with 80 year old technology.

Jim85, good reply LMAO!!!! No, I really am going to keep the TPI in place. I alreayd have a carbed engine and it pukes out all sorts of s*%t. The 350 that I used to have in my '89 IROC gave me a full appreciation of what the bad boys can do! I love the TPI!

mrr23, do you find your MSD fuel pump very noisey? I though I heard that they were? What's your opinion?

i have it mounted behind the left rear seat under the body. yes you can hear it. but you can hear most external fuel pumps. turn the radio on and the noise is barely noticable.

i have an external high pressure pump on my s10 blazer, i'm pretty sure the applications is for a 90s f150 with efi. it's somewhat noisy but if you have loud exhaust that'll drown it out. i've had it submerged in water and mud and it's still fine a year and a half later. i think it's about $60

Ukraine Train, do have the part number on that bad boy? Do you know if it puts out at least 45 psi?

i'd check the number but the truck's at home and i'm at college. the application is for an f150 with a multiport 302ci, just ask for one of those at the parts store. i think the years are early 90s or maybe late 80s. i'm not sure the exact pressure it puts out but i've been running it on a 305tpi and my friend has one on his 350/stealth ram TA and neither of us have had fuel starvation problems
