My girlfriend just bought a brand new black Impala. The dealership detailed it, and we see swirl marks everywhere. We're taking it back to get fixed, so what should we tell them to do. I'm hoping its only scratched in the clear coat, but how do they fix it? I don't want a temporary fix, but something that makes it the same as it left from the factory. And the car drives awesome.
After thats done, we'll apply some Zaino to it.

Unless they used some really dirty rags to wash your car with, all it needs is to have some swirlmark remover buffed into it. 3M makes a "Foam Polishing Pad Glaze" that works really well, but they recommend a low speed air or electric polisher. This stuff is made especially for dark colors.
Mequiars and Mothers both make some of the same stuff.

Swirl cannot be eliminated. When I detail the trans am, I start at 5:00am and finish about 2:00pm.
Using the Swirl remover Zaino did not make a noticeable difference for me, IMHO.

If the swirls only show up in the sun, then there's nothing wrong. If they show up in the shade, then they didn't use 100% cotton clothes and actually did scratch the clearcoat. In which case you should kill them.

 

best thing to do is go to auto parts place and buy compound use it frist take it off then use wax then use a clay bar it will take all the swirls out if they did not burn the paint if the paint is burn your going to have to get some 2000 grit sand paper and wet sand your car and then you do all of the waxing all over

 

I agree with the above, the only way to TRULY eliminate thw swirls would be wet sanding but factory paint jobs don't use enough clear coat for that and it takes a lot of man hours.

I would buff them out as good as possible (I would recommend a power DUAL ACTION buffer) then a good clay bar, seal and wax.

It should look really good after that. Then just be very careful in future.

It is reasons like this I never trust detail shops or car washes with my paint....even on my beat up 92! LOL
