RPO Codes
RPO Codes
Not sure if this is the correct area to post this question as I am new to this forum. I am going to look at a 1987 GTA this weekend. This car is a one owner 54,000 mile car The only thing I know is it has the 350 engine. What are some of the desirable RPO options I should look for?
Thanks
Thanks

"Desireable" is in the eye of the beholder. There are many options that are readily apparent, like power windows, locks, cruise, split rear seat, etcetera. However, for the sake of argument, there are a few more "desirable" items that are not as apparent may be harder to spot. I can presume that most buyers would want:

- GM3 - Axle ratio 3.45
- G80 - Limited slip differential
- J65 - 4 wheel power disc brakes
- L98 - 5.7L TPI V8 engine
- PB4 - Wheel locks, key socket
- PW7 - 16" x 8" aluminum wheels
- QDZ - P245/50 VR16 BSW tires
- WS6 - Performance package/suspension
- 6ZX - Computer selected spring
- 8NB - Computer selected spring, LR
- K90 - Generator, 108A

Vader, thanks for the help. I have had several "hot rods" in my life. Finally get both kids out of college this May so I will have the largest raise of my career. I was looking for another turbo Buick when I found this car. Will still buy another Buick when I find the right one. My '87 T-Type would run 11.80s at over 115 mph with an engine that never had the heads off.
I think this GTA might be a fun car to increase the performance on. I kind of like the "sleeper" approach to cars. Everyone knows these 3rd gen. cars won't run.

Joe,
Since you're already into the boosted Bicks, it would be natural to find a TTA. Of course, you'd NEED that big raise to grab one that is in good condition. If you think the GN is a sleeper...
Then again, if you don't mind turning wrenches, you can go one better, and convert a "lowly" 305 or 350 to a 9-second street car with only a turbo, like this guy:
