what is this!?!?!?

ok, im doing a T5 swap in my 87 IROC and there is a u-bolt that goes through the firewall and holds up the clutch master cylinder and its positioned at a angle. where the top part of the u-bolt would go through the firewall there is a wire jusnction there on the opposite side(inside the car) what is this thing, my friend has done a few of these swaps and said he has never seen it located in this spot. i dont have a pic of my car but this might help.

the red box represents the part im talking about inside the car

Take a pic of the thing in question. Maybe that would help. It might not even be a factory piece.

I just finished my T5 swap last week......

The ONLY thing near the mounting point for the master cylinder in my IROC, was the ignition lock cable that runs from the auto shifter to the column......... I just undid the bracket holding it and moved it out of the way...

Get a pic.....
