Question about a pontiac 400 motor for my camaro
Okay, a guy in my car club is getting a 455 for his trans am, and he has offered me his 400. What i need to know is, how hard would it be to put his pontiac 400 in my 89 camaro. All i have now is an LO3 with no power. And i plan on a motor change, i was going to put a 350 in but, it would be cheaper (MUCH CHEAPER) to use his running 400. But i am not sure that the Tranny will mount up. I have the 700r4. What i need to know is should i do it, and what tranny would i need to get in order to do, and is the pontiac 400 a good motor. ?

i believe all BOP engines use a transmission bolt pattern differant than chevy. your computer controls wouldn't work, or work without some effort. motor mounts would need to be relocated. unless you're willing to accept the amount of work needed to make it happen i'd stick to a SBC.
