Does my car need to "warm up"?
Ok, whenever I start my TA, it idles pretty weird. Never goes above 1000rpms, but it'll get really low, like down to 300rpms. It's only died once while I let it warm up. It's REALLY bad if I have the A/C or the vents on. But it'll start to bog down, then usually bumps up to 1000rpms, then slowly drop back down. After I drive a block it idles down around 600, maybe a little less if the A/C is on (which also sounds like satans little brother is living under my hood when it's on..)

Arawn,
Do you still have the original PROM in the ECM? There was a TSB from GM on the "bugged" original PROM. The replacement PROM has a higher target RPM and will counteract some of the other problems you might be experiencing.
There was also a TSB on the air conditioner compressor "shudder" and the necessary modifications to repair the problem.
You might also want to double-check the dash tach with a good diagnostic tach. The factory tachs can be WAY off.
Before you go too far, you should make sure the engine is in reasonable tune. Pay particular attention to the IAC passages and TPS and base idle (minimum air) settings.
The same type problems on my '86 WS6 TA no longer exist.
Finally, to answer you posted question, all engines need to warm up, despite what the manufacturers might say in the interest of fuel economy (engines that are warming up get 0 miles-per-gallon). The only reason not to warm up your car is if you want a different one.
