I'm recently started a new job and with school and everything my garage time is getting cut short so I'm thinking of taking the lazy way out. I am thinking about installing a cam in my 91 and would like to know if anyone has an idea what it would cost me. Maybe some roller rockers, too.

 

Cam intall will proabaly run between $600 and $1,000 for the labor.
Having roller rockers installed at the same time might cost a little bit more, but I don't really think so since the stock rockers have to come off anyway.

Call around, might get lucky and find a good shop that will do it for $300 or so.
Oh, and if I were paying to have it done, I'd have a performance shop or the dealer do it rather than a general repair shop. But that is just me.

 

my roommate is a mechanic and i was looking in his labor estimates book at this very thing, it was 7 or 9 hours, but he said that the book is sometimes unrealistic, just to share what true pain to your wallet must be, i looked at hours estimates for piston rings on a v-12 mercedes (cant remember model) the hours estimate was like 55, ouch.

 

Man....I'm broke from spending money on my car as it is! I'm selling may car after the summer is over but I still wanna do things to it. Oh well. Unless there is anyone out there that wants to do it for me on the side?
