PR Chip owners, how far did u advance your timing with the chip?
I just installed my PR chip today. Tomarrow I am going to put in the 160* thermostat and advance the timing, but how far did you guys all advance yours? Now its set at the stock setting 6* below TDC, so what do u think, 12*, 14*, or more?

Um....heh..i didn't advance mine...but from what the guy at PR told me it'll run fine with advances in timeing and he told me not to run anything colder than 170* thermo....

Actually, I had mine set at 6 degrees, then I went down the track and I ran consistent 14.3..... Keep that in mind...
I decided I wanted to see what the motor was running for timing at 3000 rpms. I found out I was at 42 degrees, with the computer advance Way to much..
So I set base timing at 0 degrees, and i rechecked the overall advance at 3000 rpms with the TPI and I it brought the total advance down to 36 degrees.
And then I took the car back down the race track.... I pulled of consistent 13.8's. That was a drop of half a second by less timing...
So the moral is:
More timing is not always better.
And yes, I did NOT have knock retard either going down the track the first time.... So let me put everyones mind at ease about that....

Raven is correct IMO, if you advance it too much you will get excessive retard from the knock sensor and kill performance. You should start with 6 deg and do a test run with a scan tool to determine ECM advance and knock retard. Then calculate total timing as follows:
Initial + ECM - KS Retard = Total Timing.
Aim to get that total timing figure at around 36 to 38 degrees.
I know someone who got their best results by setting initial timin to 3 degrees. They were running a TPIS chip, and a few mods on a 305 TPI. The car went 13.8 secs with 3 deg initial.
