Cam suggestions please!!! Thanks
This is what I got
LG4 305 carb,,,,qjet
w/ headers, no cat,,,,no snog tests. Open element K&N hooked to a T5 with (i was told by previous owner that they were changed to 3:23) rear gears.
My time "before" the K&N and breather and headers was 16.5.
but I also want to get a new cam what would give me the best 1/4mile increase....Id prob get a intake too .....but i need input on what to put in instead of the peanut cam.
A guy at the parts store said i could just put in a 350 stock cam and it would be better then what i got now...but how much time would that give me, is it worth it??? I dont want to spend too much $ on it incase later on i want to put a 350 in there. So what cam would be the most affordable quick upgrade for me now and what kind of times do you think i could pull off for a time. Thanks guys if you can help??

Yes a 350 roller cam would be an improvement, but to me if you go thru all that trouble why go cheap... Don't forget new springs as well.
Is yours a roller motor? I thought LG4s were hydraulic. If hydraulic, look into the Comp Xe cams.

That means you can use an inexpensive LT1 roller cam, which can be had on e-Bay almost anytime for about $50. You will just have to use an electric fuel pump because that cam has no lobe for the mechanical fuel pump you now have. (Or you can order one built for a carb setup from Crane or Comp, but they cost a fair bit more.) LT1 cams are praised very highly by folks with computer controlled 305s. Should be good for at least 30 more hp

ok so I thought i had a roller lifters so a Xe cam wont work???? will it???
Lt1 sounds like a nice setup,,,,but what would a elec fuel pump cost? How do you hook it up as I been told I have an in tank elec pump plus a manal pump. and ive also been told I dont have an in tank pump. So whats the deal??? Then Id have to buy a fuel pump plate to take the place of the pump when i remove it??
Why do I have to get new springs,,,that way id have to take the heads off wouldnt I?? I thought that lifters need to be done too but with my roller lifters they should be fine right? I mean I was told my engine was rebuilt not too long ago so Im not too worryed about it. Im not going to put on a butch of parts just cause I got it apart cause its only a lg4 305 and its not something I can justify spending too much $ on just only 200 for a cam and 250 for an intake thats it. Head work can come latter,,,,maybe next winter when its stored.
