Questions about engine?
I am building a 355 with:
HSR with 52mm tb
XE 224/230 110LSA, installed stright up with 1.6 Pro Mags
AFR 195 or TFS G2 port match the heads to the intake, if needed
Hooker lt headers with full off road exhaust
5sp with 3.42 or 6sp with 3.73
First question is:
1) Will I be able to run a MAF without maxing out the MAF and ECU? I havent programed with eitherMAF or SD, but heard that a MAF is easier to program with for someone new.
2) If I go with a 6sp, can I use the 94+ LT1 6sp with the electronic speedo or will I have to use the 93 mech speedo 6sp?
I am pretty new to the third gen, so I apologize if I am asking a obvious question.
Thanks
Jeremy

Mastr,
Theoretically, a 355 with a V/E of about 85% will "max-out" the MAF flow reading at 255G/S (430.23 SCFM) at around 4,900 RPM (4,927, to be precise). However, the system ignores the MAF reading and reverts to open-loop operation at throttle openeings above 80% (WOT), and the factory Bosch MAF is rated to flow at 534 SCFM, so you really won't "max-out" the MAF flow until you reach about 6,100 RPM (or, 6,115 to be exact).
If you manage to improve the volumetric efficiency of the engine beyond 85%, or exceed that RPM at 85% V/E, then your results will vary accordingly.
I have no clue about the transmission nor speedo, but I am under the impression that the '93 will aslo have a VSS mounted to the tailshaft instead of a cable drive. Stock ThirdGen VSS outputs are supposed to be 4,000 pulses per mile, or thereabouts.
