383 stroker, FINAL CHAPTER!
for those of you that remember my 4 other threads on the race built 383 i was having problems with, here is the answer.
the machine shop called me today and let me know they are finshing up the motor.
4 of the cam bearings were installed wrong, and pushed way to far in.
They will have to be replaced, but there is no other damage to the engine. :-)
shane
they didnt give me a cost, what would yall expect?
thanks for everyones help!

that sucks, that was a brand new crate engine right?
i would get as much on paper from the machine shop that found the problem, and go after the crate engine builders for the money you are having to shell out to get their mistake fixed.

That's awful....
I've put cam bearings in a bunch of motors, I don't think I've ever managed to do that. What really sucks is that they didn't notice, or didn't bother to fix it if they did.
I knew a couple of guys that had a race to build a SBC short block . The winner did it in 21 minutes, but it was a close race, I'd say within 45 seconds or so. They both had all their parts and materials and tools laid out so all they had to do was jam stuff together. Both motors actually ran - don't know for how long though. I wonder if yours was like that.
