Before you buy anything, you should know that the B&M shifterisnt made for Pontiac's. They claim is it, but if you have the same low, plastic console that I do in my T/A, its not going to look at all like they claim.
I bought one, and found that out the hard way. I called them up, and they said they hadnt ever heard of a console like mine, at which point I completely reamed out the poor sales guy for like 10 minutes, cause all of the automatic T/A's Ive ever seen have console's like mine. They obviously didnt bother to test the product.
At any rate, there are two ways you can make it fit. you can either use their cover plate, and drop blots through your plastic cover. This isnt a terribly good option, because it's going to require *lots* of cutting of the console. In other words, if you go this route, and then decide that you want to go back to stock at some point, you'll have to buy a new top console plate.
The other option you have, is to have the B&M shifter come out of the hole already in your console. This is what I'm doing. It's gonna take a little more work, but I think its gonna end up looking more factory this way. At any rate, interior work is on hold right now while I do my exhaust system and my intake system, so I dont know exactly what's going to have to be done. You may have to modify the brackets to get the shifter to come through the console in such a manner that it'll have room for full travel. This also leaves the problem of not having the proper shifter boot. I'm going to try to buy the leather shifter boot for a stickshift from G&M... its about $30 if I remember correctly, and try to cut that and sew it to make it look factory. Not trying to discourage you, B&M is still probably the best fit, just letting you know abotu the potential probelms you might have, since no one bothered to let me know.
good luck
this is the megashifter of course, its the one built to go in 82-92 camaro. I paid around $160 for mine.
