Where to find casting #'s for Heads

I'm in the process of having the valve guide seals replaced on my 87 LG4 T/A. Where are the casting #'s located so I can get the right parts ?? Should I stick with stock seals or get something different. The motor is stock as of now but I plan on adding the following items this summer; Headers, performance cam, Performance intake. Then have the heads redone this fall. I have a rochester 4-bbl and plan to keep it with the modifications. This is all my budget allows for this year. What should be my first modification ?? Or does it really matter in which order I do the modifications ?? Also; while I have certain areas of the motor apart, are there any other modifications I should do since i'm in that process ??? I just want to get a few more ponys out of the motor without going full-blown into a monster project ! The motor will have to pass emissions and will also be a daily driver. Can you recommend a good cam for street and highway driving ??? Sorry this is so long, but I justs gotta know !!!! Summer is awaitin me and my T/A !!! Fakeyankee.

Yank,

Look between the groups of rocker stud bosses. There should be a seven- or eight-digit number. Check the number carefuly, since an '8' can look like a '3', etc.
