Cam/Intake Swap parts needed Questions

As far as a cam/intake swap goes here are the parts that I've ordered:

Intake Gaskets
Air tool to keep valves from falling into the bore
Valve Cover Gaskets
Valve Springs (Z28 springs from powerhouse)
Timing Chain
Timing Cover Gasket
Cam Break in Oil
Oil Pan gasket
Thermostat Housing Gasket
RTV, anti-freeze, oil, oil filters and distilled wate
Intake
Cam

I was wondering if I needed any of the following:

A Distributor Gear
Locks/Retainers
Shims for the springs
Valve Seals
New Timing Cover
Lifters

I'm pretty new at this, it's a used LT1 cam that's going into my 305 and we're moving the condensor and radiator and front clip out of the way and putting her in the front. Any suggestions on parts to get?

Thanks
Tony

You don't need the other things. When you throw the factory rotator garbage away like you should, you'll need about .105" of shim for the exhausts; you can get those at any real parts stores. Use a .060", a .030", and a .015" one. Use the "positive" seals. which you can get from NAPA or Fel-Pro. Don't discharge the AC; you can move the compressor and condenser out of the way together as a unit. You don't need cam break-in oil. You need a whole timing set, not just a chain; either use a stock-type (Link-Belt style) chain set, or a "true roller" type, which should cost about $50. DO NOT use a cheaper "roller", which will cost about $20; also known as "truck chain". Those are not rollers, they're bushings, they just look like rollers so people call then that, they "stretch" worse than stock ones do. Replace your belts and hoses and water pump while you're there, it's easier than cleaning up your old ones, and it's alot easier to do it now than to work on it *again* later when they fail. Put sealer on the threads of the water pump bolts, they go into the water jacket.
