Buying timing light question

I'm ready to buy me a timing light but don't know wich one. There are two kinds that they showed me, one with the dial **** that show the degrees on the back and one without. The one with the dial is times two of the price of the one without the dial ****. Which one should I get? Can I just buy the one without the dialknob? What is the difference?

Thanks

If I were to buy another timing light I would make sure I get a light that has atach and is an advanced timing light.

It will tell you your total timing at a certain rpm without using timing tape ie total advance at what ever rpm you want.

Mac, Sun, Snap-on, make a nice one and are pricey over 100.00 easy for a really good piece but you get what you pay for too. I would check Sears too, I seem to remember them having the Advanced timing light for less than 100.00 not sure if it had the tach in it though which is nice for tuning the carb too.

i'd love to own a snap on 1261 light, but at near 500 dollars i'll pass untill i find a cheap one on ebay. i've heard sanp on lights don't work with msd ignitions, i know my older than dirt snap on light doesn't. i have a 60 dollar advance light from sears that works very good. i'd spend the money and buy the advance light. if you don't mind ebay there are some very good deals on lights there, search under snap on or timing light.
