Heater controls

Having problems with my heater. It only blows out the defrost. There are two sets of purple and grey wires or hoses in my camaro. I know where one goes on the back of the heater/ a/c control but the straight line one im not sure. Its purple and grey and has the clear plastic end that is straight and has like 2 or 3 holes I believe to plug in somewhere. I dunno where it goes.. anyone?

If I remember right, there is a bundle of vacuum lines that attach to a round part on the back of the control assembly. I thought that they were all mounted in a common plastic "plug" held on by a few push nuts. Have some come out of the plug, or is the whole plug loose or leaking?

Yeah I know that one. It plugs into the right side of the controler. BUt there is another one its just one grey and one purple wire and i dunno where it plugs into. thinking maybe thats why my heat wont work all over.. The one your thinking about it kinda almost round this one is a straight piece I would take a pic of it to show you but my husband has the camera.

One of them is the vacuum supply (that's an interesting concept) and the other goes to the heater control valve.

All the little doors that control where the air comes out, are worked by vacuum motors; and hot water will not circulate through the heater core unless vacuum is supplied to the valve, which opens it.

IIRC the purple hose is the vacuum supply, and should hook to one of those hard plastic lines inside the car which then goes through the firewall below the heater hoses with the A/C sysem wiring; it should hook to the vacuum accumulator, which should get vacuum from the intake manifold. The grey hose should hook to another of those hard plastic tubes, which goes to the heater control valve, which is located over the right valve cover.
