You will get good value for your money, just DO NOT expect this 350
to be a PERFORMANCE ENGINE right out of the crate.

It might make a little more than that at the crank. I wouldn't try racing any stock L98s. That motor is a truck motor. It's got sh*t heads, a sh*t cam, and very low compression.

Ever see a phone company van run? That's basically what that is.... it's a replacement motor for people who want something as cheap as possible, for large fleets and such. A truck that pushes itself around will make more money for its owner than one sitting in the vehicle maintenance lot. Look at your your local utility company and how they treat their trucks, one that runs is better than one that doesn't; and it doesn't matter how fast or how slow it is to them, as long as it runs, it's all the same.

It puts out about 185-190 HP and 275 ft-lbs once it's installed in a chassis. About the same as a mid-late 70s smogger, from the depths of the smog era, since it's built out of the same parts.

Of course it's a 350, so it has potential from that point of view. But it is the absolute bottom of the barrel 350. It will barely outrun a stock LG4 as it comes; and as long as it keeps the dished pistons and the "Hecho en Mexico" smogger heads, it will never be much more than it is as it comes. It will require major surgery and $$$$ even to just run with a stock 350 from one of these cars, let alone run with something that actually has some power.

You kind of get what you pay for. Pay the least, get the least.

On the other hand, if your car doesn't run now, then I guess it would be just about perfect;

Crate engine,

Hi,

I too had one of these " PRIZE" crate engines, IT was Junk,
burned oil to the tune of 1 litre to 300 km or aprox 150 miles
my dealer rebuilt it 2 times under warrenty it was still junk
I finally solved my troubled with a CRATE engine the
300 hp "special performance" engine it is now called the 330 hp
engine W/ vortec cylinder heads, it is a great engine Great power
and NO oil burning at all, you will always get what you pay for,
ALWAYS, maybe i just had bad luck, who knows good luck to you
I hope your experience with the goodwrench 350 is better than mine was..... later GTA..........
