I have an 88 IROC with the 16" factory wheels. I want to find a set of 15" rims to put on BFG DR's 275/50/15 for track use only.I don't even care if the wheels are just plain steel wheels.

What should I look for in a rim as far as backspacing? Will an 8" wide rim be alright?

I have Nitto 275/50/15 drag radials on a set of 15x8 rims. I went 15x8 all the way around with 4.75" backspace on the fronts and 5.25" on the rears. If I had it to do over again, I would have went 5" on the rear. The drag radials don't rub at all, they fit perfect. But when I put the 28" tall 10.5" wide slicks on, I had to use 1/4" spacers, otherwise the sidewalls rubbed the inside of the wheel wells just a touch.

 

What about 15X10's with 4.75" of backspacing? Will they stick out too much?
