No, it hasn't jumped time.

Probably needs injector service. They build up crud over time, which can't easily be removed while they're in the motor; then they fail to feed fuel properly, and as we all know, power comes from burning fuel. I'd suggest taking them off and sending them to www.cruzinperformance.com For less than $120 he can usually restore them to better than new.

I'd lean towards injectors too.

Was there a reason as to why you needed the catalytic converter replaced?

It's catalytic not cadilac, that's one L away from being Cadillac.

Sitting around without running will varnish up the fuel system. Another indication toward needing injector service.

Just try a bottle of injector cleaner that you put into the gas tank. It works fairly well and may give you a clue as to where the problem is. Sometimes just giving it a good run on the freeway is enough to blow out the crap in the system.

Try BG 44K, its the only stuff worth buying. Costs 20 bucks though. Find it at the counter usually, people like to walk out with it.

not the injectors

well I ran the injecter idea by him and he said hes already been there and theres no problem there. I took it out for a drive and got up to about 80 mph so if something needed blown out Im thinking that would of been the time it would have happened. Also I noticed ( its an automatic) Its shifts wierd You have to lift off the gas ever so gently when you hear its tacking out and then it will shift...can a car thats jumped time show signs of this? I took it back to him and said no I cant drive it like this ..I live in the mountains and it doesnt have enough guts to climb at this point..He says if it was his hed do this ( timing belt) and if this doewnt cure it He has no clue So im gonna be out 300.00 more come monday with no guarentees it'll be fixed

that might be problem #1, have you thought about taking it to a diffrent shop, and have someone who knows what they are doing look at it?

I think I'm getting a better picture. I think your transmission is slipping. Take it to a tranny shop for an evaluation. I'd not spend another dime with that mechanic of yours. He's an idiot. He's either really stupid or he's milking you for money and is crooked.

You said it starts out OK, then it gets weak. Does it feel like it loses power once it hits 3rd and/or 4th gear? Does your tachometer look like it all of a sudden jumps up in revs (and more or less revs freely) and you lose acceleration? If so, it's slipping. Time for a transmission rebuild. Depending on your area, it may cost $1000-$1700.

I've had real good luck with Barryman's B-12. It's about 3 bucks and It did my car a world of good when I bought it.

Why I had to read that a 2nd time I will never know, lol

The way your tranny is acting, I would check the fluid level and readjust the tv cable, there are directions on the homepage, or like said take it to a tranny shop.

Has he connected a scan tool to it to see what the computer is seeing? Is it getting lean when the problem occurs? What sort of tests have been done on the fuel system? Pressure? Volume? Ignition system? Are plug wires, plugs, cap and rotor all good?

Also, if he thinks it jumped a tooth on timing, thta would be easy to find with a timing light! If the cam jumped a tooth (Chain, not belt! Belts are for Honda's) the distributor would be off also, unless someone has already made up for that.

As for the injectors, if they are that bad, the stuff you put in the tank may not do a thing. Either a pressurized flush, or pulling them and having them serviced by an injector specialist (Like cruzin') would do it, with the specialist being the best with the pressurized flush that most shops can do would be a close second.

Sounds like there may be a bunch of stones that are unturned!

A good look at the transmission wouldn't be a bad idea either if that's being questioned, but be warned, it may not shift right if the engine's not running right! It's nearly impossible to diagnose a transmission problem on a vehicle that's not in good tune!

Good luck!

FWIW, a ;91 V-6 most likely (99-44/100% probability) has Multec injectors. They are almost never worth reconditioning, and are notorious for failure. I recently got an entire railm regulator, and injector set from a bone yard for $45. I suggested cleaning the injectors, but the owner didn't want to spend the paltry $11 each for cleaning. I matched the better coils to make an electrically good set, cleaned the tips and inlet screens, and installed them. It was like a different engine altogether.

Suspect your injectors. Get a second opinion (and possibly a second technician) or do it yourself. If you replace any injectors, clean and flow-match them all at Cruzin' Performance.
