wont idle in gear

when i put the tranny in gear....the motor dies...think it could be a carb problem...its a old holley on there right now....it doesnt exactly start very easy but it starts

If its a manual tranny, your clutch is probably dragging.

My impulsive, WAG is that you need some serious tuning to the Holley to match your setup.
