As for "i was just curious whats out there for the motor i got"
NOT MUCH! lol
basically there are super expensive headers, 3.4L heads... CAI, a few Cam's and thats it.
Any exaust that works on a 305 will work on the 2.8L (exept dual cats)
Tranny Shift kit is pretty fun, the hard shifts make it feel like you car actually has more power than it does.
So, i would just give up on trying to make your 2.8L fast, its not worth the money that you would put into it and not make that much more power. Also, i wouldnt do the 3.4L swap either, its not worth the time and effort IMO.
Like i said before, go with a 350 if you want performance.

Hey; I wonder... is there some kind of category that allows GM to put a motor in the "high output" category? The 82-84 2.8's made 90 horsepower.
The 85-89 2.8's made 135 horsepower.
Maybe GM can label anything with an extra 45 HP as "high output"? Just curious... what was the HP difference between, say, an '84 HO Camaro and a regular Camaro?

"Not Quite As Low Output" is a not quite the same thing as "High Output". 135 HP in a 3400-lb car isn't exactly a "High Output" situation, as I'm sure I don't have to tell people who have them.
IMHO any 4- or 6-cylinder motor (with few exceptions) in the same chassis as one that comes with V8s doesn't qualify for "High Output" designation, regardless of its improvement over its predecessors in kind from prior years.
But all of that is just opinion. It's all marketing and self-abuse anyway. Considering that only a little over a decade before the "High Output" version of Camaro motors produced 375 HP, the L69 wouldn't qualify either. But, at least it says "HO" on the side of the car, which the 6-cyl cars don't.

I just looked at the tech data chart off the thirdgen.org main page...
84 Z28/TransAm with LG4 made 150 HP @ 4000 RPM.
84 Z28/TransAm with HO L69 made 190 HP @ 4800 RPM.
So there's a 40 HP difference... sorta like the 45 HP difference between the 2.8 LC1 (2bbl carb 82-84) and 2.8 LB8 (MPFI 85-89). BUT, both those '84's are in the same year; makes more sense to designate one as HO. Doesn't quite make sense to call the 2.8 HO in '85, and only offer one 2.8.
I agree with the marketing thing, it makes the most sense. Uh, well, if "Come drive our wild new high output v6!" can make sense. That marketing manager must've gotten fired.
