can a ripper blow a clutch?

i was able to drive my car after it being on stands for 2 weeks getting a new rear (3.73 posi) and installing a new ripper shifter. well not an hour after i was driving, an easy shift from first to second turned out to be the end of my clutch. the clutch fork wasn't working properly because i think the pressure plate spring were bad or something. so the clutch blew and i over extended the slave cylinder and blew it out the back. could the ripper and new rear have weakend an already poor stock clutch, or do you think that it had nothing to do with it. keep in mind that i was getting on it too hard. thanks

The ripper has nothing to do with the clutch really. But the 3.73 gears and posi do, they probably just severed an already weak link, the clutch.

Get a centerforce d.f. clutch if you want to pay twice as much as a stock replacement. I also have 3.73 gears and a ripper shifter and I pretty much toasted my clutch this week, but my car is still driveable, and next week I am getting my clutch replaced with a brute force clutch from a local auto parts store......cause my mechanic highly reccomends these clutches and he has one in his iroc and he beats on his car repeatedly and his clutch is still good with 30,00 miles on it already...Unless you have a 350 with high torque, or you race your car every weekend, dont waste your money on a centerforce d.f. clutch. Good luck ...and how much does a slave cylinder cost cause I think I will replace that too when I get my clutch replaced.???
