Every time you do a diagnosis, the code 12 comes up first. It's just a signal to show that the computer is in diagnosis mode. I don't think it's a trouble code.

Code 12 is the ECM letting you know that it is going into diagnostic mode.It will flash code 12 three times then flash any trouble codes then flash code 12 after trouble codes
are finished.
