Another addtion to really strange Smog Pump Problem

Ok this is driving me nutz. Im about to pull out my hair. If you dont know what I'm talking about check out my other post, but in short I removed the smog pump and had some power issues. The car had NOOO go low end and it had a litte idle problems when in gear.

OK well today I followed the wires around and and found a SLIGHTLY loose wire, I re seated all the wires on the cap and and check all the vaccum lines to make sure they were ok.

After all that was said n done, I started the car up, it again idled REAL GOOD! It sounded perfect, sounded nice, sounded mean. So me and my Buddy Z hopped in and went for a drive. The power problem was still there. No reall low end power, my foot could be all the way down to the floor and it crawled.

Now heres the weird thing. When I put the gas down, it takes awhile to upshift....awhile meaning like 43-4500 RPMs and when she shifts she shifts REALLY HARD, like head jerking hard. After that the power is still low but it has more then it had yesterday and still more then it has then it did yesterday.

I took the car to my buddies house to have his dad look at. He is in agreement that the car runs smooth and sounds good. He thinks it has to be some sort of vaccum leak, but he doesn't know from where, He checked the vaccum lines back by the distributor and couldnt find anything broken or not connected.

We were wondering if there if there a vaccum line to the transmission or something else that can throughing off the shift pattern or something? I am stumped, Z is stumped, and his dad is STUMPED.

Like I said the car idles and runs fine, sounds nice and smooth, but the min ya put it in gear and try to drive away, it sucks big *****.

Any one got any ideas or anything? Like I said it runs fine till you put it in gear and try to go vroom, theres no vroom. The engine in gear still sounds good, it revs high and sounds nice, but NO POWER.

Is my tranny going or gone, and all this just coquinsidence (?) or what?

Hmm...I know this isn't related to what you did, but check your tranny fluid and make sure its full.

Have you checked the timing with a timing light? Maybe the distributor moved while you were fooling with the wires.

Since PopaPork hasn't gotten back to things in a while, I will give you a little update (I'm "Z" that he keeps referring to).

After some research, we pretty much narrowed it down to the TV Cable (good call, Mkos1980). We figured that when pulling the air tube from the driver's side header to the passenger side smog system (down behind the distributer) we pulled the TV Cable out near the tranny.

Unfortunately, we didnt have time to work on it and we all had to head back to school. We'll re-convene next week after graduations...
