My 88TA has an issue! Any ideas here what it could be??

Ok, I was getting a code 43 which is the knock sensor. It was picking up the knocking of my broken smog pump. SO, I replace the pump with help from Wraith and CDartz (Thanks guys!) and the new one is squeaking a little bit. It says on the directions that it has to break in and may squeal a bit.

Well after it warms up, there are no noises whatsoever. But if I get it up to highway speed and even slightly get on the car, the light comes back on and retards the timing all over again.

I tried to pull the fuse of the ECM to clear the codes and put it back in, but it comes back after a short time.

Any suggestions here?

BTW, the knock sensor is new, the distributor is new, the computer is for the 350TBI and the engine is NEW.

Change your nock sensor, to check it tap on the passanger side tail pipe, if the computer retard the timing then it should be fine, but if it doesn't do that then it is bad, it may also be a short in the wire going to the ECM.

Sherry, we got the Knock sensor for a 92Chevy truck in your car, Jaymie and I both assumed it would work, mostly me actually. Maybe try running the Knock sensor for the Caprice Cop car your chip is for.

Damn, been to long, I can't remember what year your chip was burned for..
