Recectly Rebuilt
Recectly Rebuilt
Jsut recently rebuilt the engine in my 89 IROC. Haven't driven it yet still working the problems out-Alt. cooling fans and such. Engine runs a little hot not overheating but little hot. one cooling fan doesn't run, elec.motor burnt. Can that alone be the cause or will it not make a real big difference. Thanks, and its good to be back on the site.

One cooling fan not working would make a difference when the car is just sitting there. When you drive around, you generally get enough air flow moving across the radiator that the fans are almost not needed, but at idle they are the only things getting any air at all moving across the radiator fins. You only have 1/2 of the fan help which you ought to right now. Also, I agree with ede to check the timing. Sometimes people try to set the timing by ear, and most of the time they can be off by as much as 15 degrees. Use a timing light to be certain.
