Yoru choice between X rods, and early LT1 rods?

ok, i've got two sets of rods available to me. If you were building a motor and wanted the set that would work best with a 6000 rpm redline and a decent shot of nitrous, which would you go with?

The lt1 rods are not the PM rods, but the earlier forged ones, which are supposed to be somewhat similiar to a pink rod. The X rods came out of an 010 block i have. thats about all i know about them.

given the two choices, which would you use?

Eric

ive built several oval track motors that run from 3500-6500 constantly and use the x rods because thats only allowed in that class, but with arp bolts and never broke one yet.But now when your talking putting a load of nitrous on them, now im not to sure.

If it were me, I'd take BOTH sets to the machine shop first. Have 'em magged. IF both sets are good, I'd measure both ends on every rod .......if both sets are still okay, I'd let the machine pick which ones, and have 'em add ARP bolts and resize 'em.

Of course for usually cheaper, you can buy a better set of rods already ready to go......

I don't know too much about the X rods, but the early LT1 rods are definitly stout pieces. They were the same rods that were in the 370 horsepower Vette 350 in 1970, so you know they are good for at least that much power. If they are in really good shape, I don't see a bit of nitrous killing them. But ARP bolts are a must if nitrous is involved.
