cold start problem
cold start problem
my car has a problem when cold starting it takes about foru to six tries and i have to keep my foot to the floor but it doesnt rev up i can here detonation in the engine compartment and after about 10 seconds it revs up and i put it in gear and it just creaps along and i here detonation in the engine compartment after about ten minutes of driving i am good to go. I am getting a code 15 and code 44 i just changed the o2 sensor didnt fix my problem
Rich,
The '15' is for a coolant temperature sensor circuit fault. Check the connector at the sensor, and test the sensor resistance. The ECM depends heavily on a CTS reading for accurate mixture control and starting.
Incidentally, starting a GM EFI engine with the accelreator fully depressed cuts off all injector pulses (delivering no tarting fuel) since a high TPS reading during cranking invokes the "Clear Flood" mode. Unless you have a flooded engine, it isn't advisable.
