Take it to the shop?
As some of you know, I'm kinda new in the world of cars (I got my liscence only like a year ago) but I've been wanted to do lots of upgrades to my 87 Camaro. Now, I know what alot of the parts I want to get are supposed to do and where they are supposed to go but I've never really done any engine work. I have 3 choices to get mods done to my car:
1. Take it into a shop and pay for labor
2. Try to do it myself and pray I don't screw up majorly
3. Just wait until I get hands-on experience from someone who knows what they are doing
The third choice looks the best, but quite honestly, from me that looks like it could still be awhile (like years from now).
Any advice is welcome
Thanks!

Here is what ya do...Read All you can..stay on thirdgen.org..ask specific questions...and allow yourself to make mistakes!
The rest will come , and your car will become a Beast!..ask me how I know..

What modifications are you planning? Your plans may determine the order in which they should be done, and they may be broken into logical groups, like things that are easier, things that require machining or advanced equipment, etc.
Just give us an overall picture of your goal, and the changes you have planned. I'm sure there is a lot of advice available.

Right now I'm planning on:
Changing the exhaust system of my car.
Lowering the suspension a bit.
Putting on new front bumper and ground effects.
Painting the front bumper and ground effects.
Getting new headers.
There will probably be more to come but that is it for now.

i know a lot more about my car now than before i joined this site. so glad i'm a part of it now. :hail:
Stick your head under the hood of your car, as much as possible. Just get familiar with things under the hood.
Same thing with your suspension, etc. Just get under your car, take a good look at it, figure out how things work, how they go to together.
It's like going to a new school, and the first day you have to find all your classes on your own. It's intimidating and makes you nervous as hell.
Eventually you get familiar with things and it's not so scary anymore.
