Somebody tell me what this thing is.........

In my engine bay, on the drivers side all the way up by the headlight is a big cylinder looking thing. I don't have a clue what it is............

does it have vacum lines runnin to it? it could be two things.. vacum reserve, or the charcoal canister for vapor recovery... dammit, i wanna rip mine out, it smells an pisses me off, anybody do thiS?

No man, leave it in. Vapors gotta go somewhere, better in that can than in your engine compartment then BOOM! They sell filters for that thing too (i didn't know it until I found them for like $2 so I figured what the hell). you change it from the bottom.

yeah i figuered that would be better to leave, i think i will be buying some vacum line and relocating some of this stuff. if there are filters, (mine seems to be sealed) then i should probably replace it. My canistor seems to leak a litte from the bottom.. always a little wet under it.

Sounds like it is the cruise control mechanisim to me. At least that is where mine is on the same year/model/engine as yours.

Yeah, forgot about that. They are fairly close together, but the canister that is directly behind the headlight on the driver's side is the fuel vapor canister whereas the cruise control unit is a little further back.
